Information Communication Technology Committee

Information Communication Technology Committee

This committee is responsible for upgrading this website.  This comprehensive service should now provide all residents in the Heathfield and Waldron parish (TN21 postcode) the most magnificent information service.

In 2004 the Partnership was responsible for installing five public information points (PIPs). This is an exciting scheme, as yet unique to Heathfield and the surrounding villages. These PIPs are available for members of the public to access the internet, local government/services and Heathfield local information (including the www.heathfield.net website), free of charge. The following are locations of the PIP kiosks in and around Heathfield:

  • The Co-Op Heathfield

  • Wessons Café, Horam

  • The Crown Public House

  • The Half Moon Public House in Cade Street

  • Heathfield Youth Centre

There is also one in the library, which was provided by Access East Sussex.

In 2006 we ran training sessions at various venues in and around Heathfield on laptops on Word, Excel, e-mail and internet for absolute beginners. The training programme was a great success and gave access to so many people in the community who, for whatever reason, had found computers and their usage difficult.

The PIP kiosks and training were being part-financed by the European Community WARR Partnership Leader+ 2000-2006 programme, supported by:

  • the European Agriculture Guidance and Guarantee Fund of the EU

  • South East England Development Agency

Sports and Leisure Committee

Sports and Leisure Committee

The Partnership is currently working towards building an indoor swimming pool in Heathfield. In 2005 the Heathfield Area Pool Initiative (HAPI) carried out a survey and 5,000 people said they would like an indoor swimming pool in Heathfield. The subsequent feasibility study (please see summary below)  carried out in 2006, which the Partnership raised funds for, endorsed this and identified the most suitable site as being Heathfield Community College's existing leisure facility. A business plan was produced in 2008. This committee are currently raising funds for design work for a planning application for the swimming pool, fitness centre and muga project to be based at Heathfield Community College. The Partnership is still in need of further funding for this and would be grateful for any assistance that may be forthcoming. Should you be aware of any potential funding please contact the Heathfield Partnership Co-ordinator on 01892 610314.

High Street Committee

High Street Committee

The Partnership has over the last eleven years been responsible for the phased improvements to the High Street, Station Road and Station Approach which has also provided disabled access to all commercial and service properties. The regeneration has also provided trees, hanging baskets and Christmas lighting which along with new street furniture and signage has smartened up the town dramatically. Further plans and funding are being sort for the parade end of the High Street.

The Partnership is helped by the Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council in maintaining the trees, flowers, paving and furniture which should ensure that the appearance is attractive.

Transport Committee

This committee was formed in 2007 to look at community transport within Heathfield. An accessibility audit was undertaken in 2007 and is available to the public via the Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council office, the library and on this website (please see transport section). The Partnership started the Youth Express project (please see Youth Centre section) in October 2008 and from January 2009 is operating an administration system to enable local organisations/groups to hire spare capacity vehicles for outings and transport to events. The Partnership Co-ordinator (for contact details see contact us page) can be contacted for more information on the scheme.

A ‘Getting out and about in Heathfield' leaflet was published in 2007 by the Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council and was an objective that came from the questionnaire that was organised by the Partnership. This was distributed to every household in the parish and is also available on this website (please see transport section).

Inward Investment Committee

Inward Investment Committee

In 2007 eleven new parking and three gateway signs were installed. In 2004 a Heathfield brochure (document available to download - please see below, Heathfield at the Heart of Business) was produced in order to attract businesses to Heathfield.

Three information boards are located on the railings outside Trading 4 U on the High Street, the vacant Thresher's wall as you go into the car park in Station Road and outside the entrance to the Co-Op. These boards are displaying information on the farmers market, the website, shoppers guide and other local information.

The shoppers guide was circulated to all residents in Heathfield and Waldron in the April 2008 edition of Heathfield First. It is also available to pick up from the Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council office, all local businesses and can be downloaded from this website (please see below). The website version will be updated regularly.

Local Action Team Committee

This committee was started in 2007 by the Partnership to support and assist the local police team. The police website has been introduced successfully and the committee is now looking at two projects concerning the town centre; one a zone preventing the consumption of alcohol in the street scene and one restricting cold calling. Research is being undertaken regarding a CCTV system for the town.

Farmers Market Committee

Farmers Market Committee

The market is held every third Saturday in the month in the Co-Op supermarket car park, Heathfield, between 9.00am and 12.30pm. Please visit the Farmers Market section for more detailed information about the market and the stallholders.

Christmas Lights/Family Fun Day

Christmas Lights/Family Fun Day

Since 2001 the Partnership have been responsible for the installation and maintenance of the white Christmas lights on the shops on the High Street and since 2005, in partnership with Heathfield Chamber of Trade and Commerce, the lampstand lights.

Since 2004 the Partnership have also, again in conjunction with the Chamber of Trade and Commerce, been responsible for organising the family fun day.

It would also be fair to say that we have worked closely with the Heathfield and Waldron Rotary Club in projects such as the town clock, town sign and the town carnival last year.

The close working relationship between the Partnership, Parish Council, Chamber and Rotary is a fundamental reason for Heathfield's emergence once again as a prosperous market town.
