The PiP (Public Information Point)
On February 19th the first PiP (Public Information Point) kiosk was installed in the CO-OP store and since then PIP's have been installed in:-
This is an exciting scheme, as yet unique to Heathfield and the surrounding villages. These PiPs are available for members of the public to access the Internet, local government/services and Heathfield local information (including the heathfield.net website), free of charge. They will also start to be used as tourist information points throughout the community. There is also the facility to pay to top up mobile phones and produce digital printing and send e-mail.
What is a PiP?
This is a free information kiosk
- Providing easy access to public and community services
- Giving fastest way to access local information contained on Heathfield.net - the portal with a spotlight on local events, businesses and community life
- Working with the Heathfield Chamber of Trade and Commerce in conjunction with Sussex Enterprise there will be access to schemes for those looking to learn more about IT, the PiPs will provide a variety of learning resources, and routes to further training.
- In addition there will be help for those thinking about starting-up new or expanding existing businesses and they will find helpful pointers and resources that might be available
- There are other useful services that the unit provides, such as mobile phone top up and downloads, and high quality digital photo printing from digital cameras. The machine will also print information pages.
