Bank Holiday Monday 28 August 2017
We are doing it again this year as we have done for the past 20 years.
Join us for the day with Free entertainment, Free parking and Free programme of events.
Longest running Anglo/French market in the whole of the South East.
This fantastic all day event draws visitors into the town of Heathfield from far and wide so please come and join us – you will not be disappointed – whether it is your first visit or your tenth – it’s all free!!
Station Road and Station Approach will be closed to traffic all day to allow the extravaganza to take place. A full musical entertainment programme is planned to suit all ages and tastes together with the market of around 80 stalls (approximately 50% French) offering all kinds of mouth watering goodies!
Gates open at 9.30am and the market closes at 3.30pm
When Le Marché was first launched in 1997 Wealden District Council suggested that some stall holders from Forges-les-Eaux be invited. Forges is in an area called Le Pays de Bray with which Wealden is linked. Following the success of that initial market both towns decided that they were interested in a more formal relationship and discussions took place which resulted in a twinning link being established at a signing ceremony in Forges in May 1998.
Over the succeeding 19 years the relationship has gone from strength to strength. Traders have come to Le Marche each year and for some years stallholders from Heathfield and the wider East Sussex were invited to a European Market over there.
