New homes on land in Cross-in-Hand
A controversial scheme to build 42 new homes on land in Cross-in-Hand next to ancient woodland and close to a church was unanimously recommended for refusal by Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council's planning committee. Committee chair, Patrick Coffey, outlined their main reasons for recommending refusal - potential access off the busy A267 was extremely dangerous with no western foothpath. There would be an impact on a nearby stud farm, the ancient woodland of Darch's Wood and the Ashdown Forest in terms of pollution. The site is almost 80% within the AONB, outside Heathfield's development boundary and the area has an infrastructure shortfall.
